On the new system it doesn't pick up the word "zen." I've tried to play it in a few different games. I am liking the new system though . . . my scores seem to be improving doing to the new range of words.

Hi elgallo -

Unfortunately, "ZEN" is one of those words that was in our old dictionary but is not considered a valid word in the official Scrabble SOWPODS dictionary we've now switched over to. (I'm assuming because it's considered a proper noun? But not entirely sure. It may be one of those terms that will eventually be added in their next update.)

There are very helpful lists of all valid 3, 4 and 5 letter words in SOWPODS at this link:

Dear admin,

While I am really enjoying this new system and am glad that you switched to the SOWPODS list, I think it would be nice if we had a way to submit new words for submission. Maybe there's a way you can set up a simple program that lets us submit words directly to you, or maybe we could submit words in a forum like this. It would be nice if we could constantly keep updating the dictionary and be aware of what words are added.

Thank you.

ZEN is not in the Scrabble word lists because all major dictionaries list it only with a capital Z.

Furthermore, it doesn't accept "jazz" or "jazzy." I can see why it might not accept "Zen" because it is commonly spelled with a capital Z, but jazz is a perfectly legit word. I've seen some other words that I think are missing but they escape me at the moment.

Hi elgallo -

Both words are technically in our dictionary, but they would never come into use here because there is never more than one Z on any playing board.

Huh! I could have sworn I saw the word jazz. I thought I checked to make sure. Maybe it was just my imagination. Oh well...

how come there is never more than one Z on the board? i do think the boards tend to be a little too much alike.... maybe you could relax some of generation rules you've programed in? certain hard letters could show up more often, and in different combinations than we currently see?
