It sometimes happens on my Linux computer -- it's an old one, and the CPU just can't keep up with the ad volume. Even worse things happen to my old Windows computer -- get on the internet and then start the countdown, because before ten seconds are up the machine will crash and reboot. So, I'll bet you have an old computer/OS. If it's not TOO old, maybe you can run an ad blocker. If it is too old or if you have the dollars, maybe you can subscribe to the Wordtwist site and avoid the ads.

Now, if you are already a subscriber, or if you are already running an ad blocker, I would bet your computer is REALLY old or REALLY slow or both.

It's not that old. It's a macbook pro, about 4 years old I think. But, maybe I'll subscribe. Good idea.

Default Timer Froze

I was playing today and my timer kept freezing. I've been having problems with a lag between when I type and the words showing up on screen all day, but I thought that was because I was doing some heavy editing and had a lot of programs running. Tonight, though, I could keep typing and although the words didn't show and the timer was frozen, all of a sudden it would unfreeze, and all the words would appear. But without any more seconds disappearing!

So my 2 minute game lasted a bit longer. I didn't catch on at first. It wasn't a bad board and I was settling in nicely. Then I thought that it would take the seconds away in a chunk, but it didn't do that. Bizzaro.

Anyone find a fix for this?

I haven't found a fix for that. I just dump the board. What is worse is when you lose your cursor when you are typing like mad and no words are being scored but time is running out. It only seems to happen on "excellent" boards. Someone said that I was typing too fast but I am a "two-finger" typist.
